What does warming a sending domain actually build?

Warming builds a track record of wanted mail that mailbox providers attach to your domain. Providers score senders on spam complaints, hard bounces, spam-trap hits, authentication and engagement, then decide whether your mail reaches the inbox, the spam folder or gets rejected before delivery.
